Well well well... Here I am, again.

I sit here, and look at this page, realizing that it has been over a year since I last posted a journal. And my, what a difference a year makes...

So what has been going on? Hmm, that could be the tricky question indeed. In searching for the words, I can truly say that 2008 was not exactly good... it wasn't entirely bad... For me, it was a year of great prosperity pitted with tremendous grief. In short, it was turbulent.

It certainly will be a year that I remember later on in life. And though I sit here, still searching, I have found it exceedingly difficult to put into words the events that have shaped this particular period of time. Therefore, I will not speak of it, save a few who might ask me about it--elsewhere--and will instead continue on to the original point of this journal.

So here it is: I'm back... for one last journal. By that I mean: I am leaving deviantART. It has been a good time here, and I have met some wonderful people during my various 'adventures' on this site... which reminds me: make sure to swing by the page of =Gwenwhyfar. For over four years I have watched her, from her humble beginnings on dA, and through her steady evolution to a fine artist who can take a concept (often philosophical), put it into imagery, explaining it in one clear shot while simultaneously finding a way to shroud the entire thing in a cloud of mystery, and get you genuinely interested in learning more about whatever concept she is illustrating.

It's in this form I came to know her style as, and I can with complete confidence say: not once did she fail to satisfy. Praise for her art aside, she was also one of my very first (or maybe the first?) friends here on dA. For that reason, she's always held a place dear to me (well, when speaking of dA that is), so please make sure to go and show her and her many works some love. I've always been shocked to repeatedly find that I have more pageviews than she ever does!

(especially since she's my dA senior by three days, ehehe...)

And while I do still greatly enjoy her work, as well as the work of many other artists that are on here, for various reasons I feel that it's my time to go. Significant? Nope. My activity on dA slacked sharply after the first quarter of '08, and I've been essentially entirely absent since last summer, and I see no change in the near future. So, as long overdue as it is, I bid you all farewell.

Adios. Adieu. Auf wiedersehen. Goodbye.

And though I'm not here, anyone that wishes to remain in contact is welcome to either befriend me on my facebook or follow me on my flickr, to which I occasionally still submit photos, mostly of places in and around Washington, D.C.

I would enjoy continuing these relationships beyond dA and, as always, love to share images of the things I love.

Hello all. I've not been around dA as much, as some of you might've noticed. I've just been too busy at times; all the working has really worn me out. But, I'm now changing my schedule to go back to a 5-day work week (2 guaranteed days off, it feels so amazing!), plus I've gotten a new computer so I can actually work on stuff. So in a bit I should make a reappearance - - I still have a lot of deviations to comment on.

As for updates well... I spent this Saturday in DC for the National Cherry Blossom Festival [link], and I must say it was amazing. The trees really are beautiful, the weather was excellent, and there were so many people there I had to work my way through throngs just to get anywhere. Naturally I took my camera, and I might just happen to find one or two images I could submit here.

Oh and, well, basically in exactly a week... I'll be in Europe ! That's right, I'll be over there to American-it-up. :P So far it's a bit open scheduled, but the basic plan is to first stop by France to see the dear *shealiny, then swing down to Lyon to see a non-dA friend, and lastly to head to London to have a little meet-up with the spunky =FunkyLilith. Needless to say I'm pretty excited. :D

Also, I have a facebook > [link], in case you are on there as well. And I've given thought to making a website, with one or more other fellow deviants possibly, where I might be able to put some of my photos I never thought about submitting to dA (such as most from this Saturday). And they are many. :P

That is all for the moment. Just a short journal, because I realized I hadn't done one since last December, so I figured it was time. I hope everyone else here does well. :)

I am 23. I can't wait for 25... car insurance rates go down then...

Technically my birthday was Tuesday, but for the sake of convenience we did it on Sunday, just a teeny little thing with just three family members. My mother fractured her elbow that same day, before the party actually. Fractured her elbow, same as I did as a youth, in essentially the same spot. We had a laugh about that, and now she heals.

:)

I'd like to thank Julie Caroline for being such a cool woman... not just for her very nice gift (which, by the way, I'll say thank you for one last time), as she might assume, but really I mean in general. Friendly spontaneity is always good for the world, and she clearly possesses that. A bit cracked, but... no no, I kid. She's great.

:giggle:

And regarding my deviant friends and watchers: apologies if I haven't gotten to some of your deviations and/or journals. I've been out of the mood, been working six days a week for two - or is it three?- years now, and it's catching up to me in ways. That, mixed with the cold, has set me off the mood to comment and such, so again I apologize if I am rather late commenting... if I comment at all.

Well now, goodbye.

Hullo, not really much to put here but oh well.

First off, how is everyone? All goes well, I hope. :)

And now we approach the end of the year... These times are usually busy for everyone, at least in Western civilization, and more particularly for my family. Why, we just did my brother's birthday party yesterday, and upcoming we still have (in this order): my father's birthday, Thanksgiving, my nephew's birthday, my birthday, Christmas, and finally New Year's.
:phew:

Yes yes, and then after that there's the usual dreaded snowstorms in February, which are always brief but utterly horrible. I almost got stuck going to work last time... Hopefully I can get moved before then; I'm taking my time to scope places out, but by January I should be done and moved.

As for recent happenings - Halloween as usual: a nice family get-together, and lots of pizza, candy, and tomfoolery.
;)

I love public libraries. On this past Sunday, I went to a massive sell-off the regional library was having to make space. All told, I walked away with 45 books (most in almost new condition, and big-name hardcovers like stuff by Stephen King and such), and all for $10. Quite a few foreign-language dictionaries and literatures included in that.
:D

And lastly, earlier in September (I think?) I went to a devmeet in a little restaurant in D.C., which was only three other people, but still interesting nonetheless. After that I managed to drag @limetastic around the Mall-adjacent areas of D.C., which was a good time, and a good workout for the legs, not to mention several good photo-ops, a sampling of which follows:

Note: scrollbox contains two collective images, each approaching 1mb in size (even though they've been compressed twice). A total of 15 images, ending with the smiling bride.

:phew: Actually, seemed there was a bit of stuff to write... Oh well, hopefully, if I stop being lazy, I can get the photo gallery full of D.C. imagery, bigger sized, together like I have wanted.

Not perfect quality-wise, but I feel one of the better captures of childhood spirit I have seen. I very much like this image. Please have a glance.
